The 3-day Sawtooth Retreat “Range in Writing” will provide a reservoir of time for creative writing and health. A structured weekend of inspiration, movement, and self-exploration led by writing teacher Elisabeth Sharp McKetta and movement teacher Elizabeth Spencer Clarke.

The focus of this retreat will be to establish a balance between writing and movement, brain-time and body-time, nature, introspection, lively conversation, and fulfilling rest.

The writing component will be geared toward helping each writer to produce a finished personal essay on her relationship with the physical (nature and the body) – with the goal of compiling our essays into an anthology to be published in the spring.

The movement component will aid the writing process, weaving playful connections between our bodies, minds and psyches to access the messages within our emotions and memories. We will experience gentle movement exploration, breathing, daily walking meditations, interactions with nature and stillness. Each participant will receive a print-out of health and movement information to take home and incorporate into her own life.
